Subverting Function - Witch Hunt

Transforming historical symbols of degradation into forms that emphasize care, autonomy, and bodily protection, through reimagining medieval torture devices once used to control women’s bodies—specifically chastity belts and the Brank—within the historical context of the Witch Trials. The project draws inspiration from a range of objects commonly associated with comfort and protection, including helmets, medical casts, pillows and bedding, and padding in sports.
